Simon Philips – Playing Drums With Dymanics

Playing drums with dynamics generally signifies the volume and the amount of space your drums takes up in your band.

The fundamentals of playing drums with dynamics obviously begins with pianissimo, which means soft. The next would be mezzo piano, meaning medium loud. After that you start getting into the nice and loud forte range. “Forte range” refers to loud in general.

Drumstick Tip Type Makes A Difference With Both Sound and Volume

Volume can be changed with ease. For example, you can change the drum stick type, and you’ll notice that the actual drum tip sounds makes quite a difference. Simon Philips address this and gives a good example of exactly that (play using different drumsticks/tip) in the Playing Drums With Dymanics video (check below).

While we’re mentioning, Simon Phillips have had an incredible drumming career that shows no signs of stopping.

Playing Drums With Dynamics Simon Philips

Ranging from musical theater and jazz music, to performing with huge names like Toto, Jeff Beck and Mike Oldfield, Simon’s playing has added a bit of magic to an amazingly diverse spread of musical situations.

Rhythm Magazine were invited into Simon Philip’s Personal Studio, located in Los Angeles, to record a number of videos. In this particular video clip “playing drums with dynamics” he covers the significance and application of dynamics.

TD-11KV Special Edition Aka Roland TD-11KVSE

The New Roland TD-11KV Special Edition, A Perfect Balance Of Price And Features

Roland TD-11KV Special Edition TD-11KVSE

The TD-11KV Special Edition (TD-11KVSE) is the third and newest member of the top-selling TD-11 V-Drums range.

If you’re serious about your drumming and want an electronic drum kit that can match your technique, read our quick guide on deciding which TD-11 series model is right for your gig.

A Quick Overview Of The TD-11 Range

The Roland TD-11K is the most affordable option and comes with durable rubber pads for the toms, but still includes the V-Drums range’s acclaimed SuperNATURAL technology.

The TD-11KV is the next step, with uprated mesh toms and dedicated crash and ride V-Cymbals. From there, you could jump straight to the TD-25K with its high performance TD-25 sound module and VH-11 hi-hat.

But alternatively, at a price between the TD-11KV and TD-25K, you might decide the new Roland TD-11KVSE offers you the Perfect Balance of Price and Features.

As drummers usually have their favorite brand of drum hardware, V-Drums kits do not come with a kick pedal, hi-hat stand or stool.

Rolande TD-11KVSE

What upgrades do I get with the TD-11KV Special Edition?

The TD-11 Drum sound module and drum pads might be familiar, but pull up a stool at the new TD-11KVSE and you’ll notice a fistful of specific improvements over the existing TD-11KV.

First off, instead of the CY-5 Cymbal Pad and FD-8 Pedal, this latest kit includes the VH-11 hi-hat, whose full-motion response, quiet-operation floating design and dual-trigger accuracy.

It feels just like playing an acoustic hat (it also fits on a standard acoustic hi-hat stand).

What else can I expect from the TD-11KVSE?

Another key departure from existing TD-11 models is the MDS-9SC. It’s a larger stand that offers an additional arm for a third V-Cymbal, and that’s handy, because the TD-11KVSE also ships with the CY-12C: a crash cymbal with a natural swinging motion and dead-on triggering. Both in terms of layout and feel, these uprated features mean the new TD-11KVSE plays more like an acoustic kit than ever – at a price-point that doesn’t rule out working drummers.

Steven Adler Back In Guns N’ Roses!

First Time Steven Adler Performed With Axl, Slash and Duff For Over 26 Years

Steven Adler DrummerGuns N’ Roses founding drummer Steven Adler returned to the drum throne at the group’s concert in Cincinnati on July 6. Joining his band mates from the group’s classic era for two songs.

It was the first time since 1990 that Adler performed with group founders Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan.

He had previously performed with the band, but without Rose. At Guns N’ Roses’ 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

Fans had speculated about Adler’s involvement in the group’s reunion. Since the Not in This Lifetime tour was announced earlier this year. TV host and journalist Eddie Trunk reported last January that Adler was in negotiations to join the lineup for its April show at Coachella.

It was later revealed that Adler was unable to perform due to back surgery. In late June, Adler released a video of himself drumming along with the band’s hit “Paradise City,”. Raising new speculation that he would be joining them on their current tour.

At the Cincinnati show, Adler performed on “Out Ta Get Me” and “My Michelle”. Joining Rose, Slash, McKagan, keyboardist Dizzy Reed, guitarist Richard Fortus, keyboardist Melissa Reeves and drummer Frank Ferrer.

Adler has not been announced as a returning member at this time. Being one of Guns N’ Roses’ founders, he was fired from the group in 1990 due to his drug use. Over the following years, he was followed by Izzy Stradlin, Slash and McKagan. Leaving Rose as the only original member of the group.

Guns N’ Roses continue their massive U.S. Not in this Lifetime tour at their next stop in Nashville on July 9th. The tour currently concludes on August 22nd, 2016 in San Diego at Qualcomm Stadium.

Joey Jordison Left Slipknot Due To Rare Disease

Joey JordisonJoey Jordison the former Slipknot Drummer has revealed that he has been fighting a Disease, that briefly robbed him of the ability to Play Drums.

Both sides were silent and evasive about the reason the split occurred ever since Slipknot parted ways with Joey Jordison in december 2013.

Joey Jordison, while accepting the “Golden God” Award at Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards event in London, June 13th 2016.

He gave an emotional speech in which he spoke about his exit from Slipknot for the first time. He said:

Towards [the] end of my career in Slipknot – and I need you all to give praise to them as well. We accomplished a lot in life, every one of them, and I wish them nothing but luck and the best of praises.

Joey Remeber Never forgets the “Basement” Time in Iowa

Cause what we created in Des Moines, Iowa will never be matched. It’s one thing that’s fucking certainly fucking unbeatable.

I love those men very muc. Towards the end of my career in Slipknot, I got really, really sick with a terrible disease called Transverse Myelitis.

I lost my legs. I couldn’t play anymore. It was a form of Multiple Sclerosis, which I do not wish on my worst enemy. I got myself back up, and I got myself in the fitness center. I got myself back in fucking therapy to fucking beat this shit.

And if I could do it, you could do it. It is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, more than fucking anything. He continued:

Joey Jordison Kit

To folks with Multiple Sclerosis, Transverse Myelitis, or anything like that. I’m living proof that you can fucking beat that shit. And fucking Metal and all of these fans will do it for you.

This is the fucking world right here. You can beat this shit; no joke. Only the fact that Metal lives in your heart, you can fucking see through anything.

Transverse Myelitism A Very RARE Disease

Based on the Cleveland Clinic. Transverse Myelitis is a Neurological Condition produced by Abnormal Inflammation in the Spinal Cord, leading to a block of the nerve impulses and neurologic symptoms.

Transverse Myelitis is a rare disease, with a frequency estimated to be five new cases for every one million people.

Back in 2014, Slipknot singer Corey Taylor told Metal Hammer. That firing Joey Jordison after 18 years was “One of the most difficult decisions” the group ever made. Adding that Jordison is “In a place in his life” which is “Not where we are.”

And try as you might to either get them to go your way or try and go their way. At some point you’ve got to go in the direction that works for you.

This is me speaking in the broadest terms, with respect to Joey. I guess to sum it up, it was among the hardest decisions we ever made.”

Taylor said the group is “Happy right now and we trust that he is. He’s in a place in his life, right now, that’s not where we are.”

The singer wouldn’t reply whether drug use played a role in the dismissal of Jordison. And confessed that he hadn’t been in touch with his former bandmate. Taylor said, “I haven’t talked to Joey in a while, to be honest.

joey-jordison-slipknotThat is how different we’re. It is not because I don’t love him and I don’t miss him. And it’s also painful; we do we miss him to the old or talk about him all the time. But at the same time, do we miss him? That is what it actually comes down to.”

Slipknot‘s new drummer is Son of longtime Bruce Springsteen Drummer Max Weinberg, Jay Weinberg.

Joeys Life Goes On With New Bands

Joey Jordison’s new band called Vimic will release its debut record, “Open Your Omen“. Later in the year via Roadrunner Records.

Jordison is additionally involved in a brand new Extreme Metal Supergroup called Sinsaenum.

His bandmates in that project are mayhem and sunn o)))’s Attila Csihar. Along with former Dååth and Chimaira vocalist Sean Zatorsky, Dragonforce bassist Frédéric Leclercq on guitar and Seth’s Heimoth on bass.
